A WONDERFUL MORNING OF CATFISHING
It was a nice and cool as I headed my boat up river. I did not get any shad with my net so had to use my various back up baits. I got my lines in the water at 07:17, at 07:17 had a strong bite on the regular shrimp! That was a very good sign; this was going to be a fun morning. 07:32 hooked into the first fish of the day a 6 pound carp. It hit a chunk of seasoned roast beef. That fish just took off and made the clicker sing. 08:00 a decent size channel cat was hook, as I reached down for the net the hook came free. This fish hit the vanilla soaked shrimp. Another channel cat was hooked and boat at 08:30, it was caught on beef liver. This fish was 5.5 pounds and 24 inches long.
I was getting bites on about every cast, with two rods out, I was a busy guy. Once I even had to set one rod down that had a bite to pick up the other rod that had a bite. Another carp liked the beef chunk and was boated at 08:50, this one was 7.8 poundscaught on beef liverunds. Then at 09:05 I pulled in a 6.9 pound channel cat. Beef liver was turned the trick for that fish. The next catfish was 4.7 pounds also like the beef liver. Then I caught 2 small channel cats of 1.8 pounds each on vanilla soaked shrimp. The last carp of the day was boated at 11:00; this one was 7.8 pounds and 25 inches long. He also liked the vanilla shrimp. Using my last piece of vanilla shrimp; hooked the biggest channel cat of the day. This monster topped out at 11.9 pounds and 29.5 inches long. Around this part of the Ohio a channel cat over 10 pounds is special.
